Prince William Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, according to palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

Father and son were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Dedication

The King has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the climate conference.

Royal sources have described the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as taking on an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This participation included speaking alongside French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco during the current year.

Environmental Prize Link

The COP30 summit will coincide with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.

Last week the William described the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The monarch has been a influential participant at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers confronting humanity over global warming, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the King told participants.
